Cart item out of stock

In the Stencil Cornerstone theme there is a small alert that displays at the top of the Cart if an item in the Cart has gone out of stock. It appears this feature does not yet exist in Catalyst.

Is this something that is on the roadmap? How hard would it be to implement on my own using some graphql query?

I managed to find a solution that works, closing for now.
