- Open QGIS.
- Install
QOSMandOpenLayersplugins, if not already installed. - Select
Web/OpenLayers plugin/OpenStreetMap/OpenStreetMapmenu item. This will add an OpenStreetMap layer to the map. - Move to the area of your interest. The visible map extents will serve as the download bbox.
- Select
Vector/Quick OSM/QuickOSMmenu item to start the Quick OSM plugin. - In the
Quick querytab item, enteradmin_levelunder theKeytextbox and6(as an example) forValue. Make sureExtents of the map canvasoption is checked. Run query. It will produce 3 new vector layers (point, polyline and polygon) that you can save as shapefiles.
Tested in QGIS 2.18.12.
