Roadmap

Knowage: The Open-Source Suite for Business Analytics. It ensures the freedom to access the source code and collaborate in an international community with industry leaders.

Knowage evolves continuously to meet the latest analytical needs, driven by innovation and research from the open-source community. Everyone is invited to join the community effort contributing on the source code.

This roadmap outlines the upcoming features and improvements planned for Knowage, helping users and contributors stay aligned with future developments.

Short term

The following list of features is planned to be addressed in the short term, by Q4 2025 (9.0 Release):

Version 9.0 of KNOWAGE introduces the following new features compared to version 8.1:

  • New Dashboard: The GUI has been completely redesigned to improve usability and response times. Additionally, the following features have been added:

    • New Charts: Expanded chart gallery with new types such as Bubble, Funnel, Dumbbell, Activity, Pictorial, Sankey, StreamGraph, PacketBubble, Scatter, and Waterfall.
    • Themes Management: Define new themes through a dedicated tool and share them across dashboards to streamline the creation of consistent dashboards.
    • New Map Widget: Completely redesigned with new graphical representations and the ability to use geographic layers directly from the KNOWAGE catalog or via WMS/WFS standards.
    • New Pivot Widget: Enables more flexible data analysis, configurable directly by end users through simple drag-and-drop operations.
    • Contextual Help: Add a dedicated section to each widget to host documentation supporting end users in understanding the displayed data.
    • Custom Header: Personalize the header with specific elements such as logos and titles, ensuring consistent branding and enhancing user experience.
    • Responsive Dashboards: Allow users to access and interact with data on various devices—computers, tablets, and smartphones—ensuring optimized and consistent visualization. These dashboards provide a smooth and multi-device experience, enabling informed decision-making anywhere.
    • Selector Widget Enhancements:
      • Customizable Default Value: Set a default value automatically applied at first launch to filter data.
      • Mandatory Mode: Define a mandatory default value, ensuring the selection cannot be removed.
      • Advanced Cache Management: Optimize browser cache handling to improve selector and recurrent datasets performance.
      • Optimized Selections: Enhance associative logic for more efficient selection.

  • New Dossier Tool: Manage Office formats (PPTX and DOCX) with new graphical features and a redesigned wizard.

  • ChatBot Integration: Interact with EngGPT to search for analyses created in KNOWAGE.

  • View Management: Save dashboard context information and reopen it easily from the MyRepository section in the Workspace.

  • Optimized Cache: Update cached data with customizable frequency and clear cache when needed.

Medium term

The following list of features is planned to be addressed in the medium term, by Q1 2026 (release 9.1):

  • Several enhancements to the Selector Widget, including:

    • Advanced Slider: Easily select extreme values within a range or choose distinct values.
    • Multi-Selection: Insert multiple selection elements within selectors using different columns from the same dataset, with customizable layouts (row, column, grid).
    • Code/Description Management: Display a specific value while using another column to filter data.

Series Switching on Charts: Change the displayed series directly within the widget through a convenient dropdown.

  • Dossier Evolution: Automatically generate templates based on added documents for more efficient and dynamic management.

  • KPI Widget: Display KPIs within the dashboard for immediate performance monitoring.

  • LOV Cloning: Easily clone a List of Values to save time and improve management.

  • Extended BM Lineage: Include datasets to easily visualize relationships between dashboards and datasets.

  • More Intuitive Navigation: Simplified and user-friendly process for creating navigations.

  • New Selections and Filters Widget: Display selections and filters set in drivers directly within the widget.

  • Container Widget: Alternately display multiple widgets within a single container.

  • Guided Tour: An interactive step-by-step tutorial upon first access to KNOWAGE for easy orientation.
