The issue is unclear here as there are many possibilities of what you are trying to say by optional field. Additionally, it is neither stated nor common knowledge that optional fields in general are able to be removed in this format.

If the issue the tester has is that l/ does not work, in the UG, using just l/ is not stated as a way to remove levels. Instead, to remove a level from a student, tag n/James l/NONE NONE will do the job.

Reason for disagreement:

As per the UG, under the description for the update command, it says:

"Updates the details of an existing student in EduManage."

Level is one of the details of a student, so it should be able to be updated.

Under the Tips section, it lists ways to remove a note, subjects and lesson times (note that all these are optional fields as evident in the command summary) for a student, and all of them involve leaving a blank after the prefix.

As level is also an optional field, it should also be able to be removed, and it is natural for users to assume the same procedure will work to remove a level (l/ ).

However, it does not work as evident in the screenshot, hence the update command does not work as intended to remove a level.

Unfortunately, this was not mentioned anywhere in the update command or in any notes generally related to commands (this is only mentioned in the tag command), and users should not be expected to use another command or refer to another command (that also appears later in the UG) to use this update command. It would have been very helpful if this was mentioned under the update command.
