Follow discussions in RDA community to cope with:
- how to reference sub-sets of datasets (e.g. Project utilises a given time period/parameter selection of another 3rd party dataset?)
- user utilises some sub-setting selection to take slices (selected files/subsetting accross files) from multiple datasets
issues about:
-
how to cite underlying datasets
-
assigning credit in the selection process - compare the user making selection, the authors of the tools/services allowing the selection, and the authors of the original data that enter the selection
-
is credit to be given equally for all datasets in such selections?
-
should the selection criteria become a citable object in its own right? i.e. it's a process rather than a dataset per se?
