keyboad is hidden after changing orientation to landscape and back

In the message app the keyboard is hidden (or only half visible) sometimes after changing the orientation to landscape and then back to portrait. (see image attached).

I can't reproduce it every time. I will watch it and update this issue if i find out under which conditions it occures.

Reproduction attempt — Not reproducible in simulator

Environment: iPhone 17 Pro simulator, iOS 26.2, Wurstfinger keyboard active in Messages app (French layout)

Attempts:

• Single rotation (portrait → landscape → portrait) — keyboard survived
• 10 rapid rotation cycles (0.3s delay) — keyboard survived
• 15 rapid rotation cycles (0.1s delay) — keyboard survived
• Near-zero-delay rotations (0.05s between rotations) — keyboard survived
• Rotations in both Wurstfinger host app and Messages — keyboard survived in both

Conclusion: Unable to reproduce on simulator. The bug is likely timing/device-specific. The reporter noted it's intermittent and occurs on iPhone 13 mini — the smaller screen geometry and potentially different layout cycle timing may be contributing factors.

Suspect code area: updateKeyboardHeight() in KeyboardViewController.swift — the height constraint update during viewWillAppear may race with the rotation animation on real hardware. The constraint priority is .defaultHigh which could be overridden by system constraints during rapid orientation changes.
