Performance issue while using the paint program on Ubuntu with WSL on Windows

There is a performance lag while running the paint progarm on Ubuntu with WSL with windows. There appears to be an overhead between the time when we draw with our mouse and when the drawing acutally appers on the screen.

Also, when I try to record my screen with the snipping tool available on windows, i cannot seem to capture the first letter drawn. (This is the case of letters in which we do not need to sort of lift the pen; so letters like 'h' or 's' and not 'k' or 'f'). So, it might be missing on the first continuous stroke of drawing whilst recording

One more thing that I have noticed is even closing the SDL window by clicking the cross button in the upper right corner is slow. Sometimes it takes pressing it 2-3 times before it actually closes.

Is it just for the paint demo @pawaskar-shreya or do other examples also run slow?

They actually don't run slow, but it is the issue while trying to close the sdl window. That needs several clicks.

I am actually trying to upload a video of the issue, but github is showing me the failed to upload error

update: it was the file size issue, compressing it and uploading it

I was able to reproduce this on my Windows machine today. I did notice that disable vsync/accelleration in the initialisation of SDL in base.ml did make it better, but t still wasn't usable (subjectively better, once we have #30 we can quantify that better).

Seems that SDL is known to have issues under WSL, but those should have been fixed: libsdl-org/SDL#6333

• Has it actually been fixed?
• Is the SDL2 under Ubuntu in WSL broken/missing the fix?
