Choosing a CMS for Our Blog

Hey team!

We need to decide on the best approach for managing content on our blog. Since we're using Astro, we have a couple of options to consider:

1. Markdown Files

   • Simple and works seamlessly with Astro.
   • Easy to version-control alongside code.
   • Minimal setup required.

2. CMS Integration

   • Options like Contentful, Sanity, or Strapi could offer more flexibility and a better UI for non-developers.
   • Requires additional setup and hosting considerations.

Discussion Points

• Do we need a full-featured CMS, or will Markdown be sufficient for our needs?
• Are there any CMS platforms you've worked with and recommend for this kind of project?
• Should we prioritize simplicity or scalability as we build out the blog?

Whether we need a full-featured CMS or just Markdown files depends on how often we plan to publish blog posts. If it's only once a month, Markdown files might be enough because of their simplicity. However, if we plan to publish posts more frequently, a CMS would be a better choice, as it allows for easier scalability from the start. It could also depend on who the authors are; if non-developers will be writing the blog posts, using a CMS might be a better option for easier content management.
