Adding support for guitars, keyboards and synths?

Don't know about that last commit, but I know the software only requires a bass type signal to control it. That's why I'm asking if I'm forking it can I add support for other musical instruments? Just like an electric guitar, or my PSR-A3000 keyboard with a sawtooth synth?
