Dull and damaged Jointer-Planer Knifes

1. Please describe the problem:

• Equipment: The planer-thicknesser combination machine (https://wiki.comakingspace.de/Jointer-Planer) is affected.

• Problem: The cutterhead knives have several small nicks and are no longer sharp, which affects the surface quality and safety during operation.

• Possible cause: Regular wear and tear from use; possibly contact with harder materials or embedded debris in the wood.

• Manual info: The manual (linked in the tool’s wiki page) includes instructions for replacing the knives and adjusting the cutterhead.

• Actions taken so far: I’ve inspected the cutterhead and confirmed the damage. No further action yet, as replacement knives are needed.

• Next steps: I’m happy to replace the knives myself once new ones are available. Please let me know if there are spares in stock or if we need to order a new set.

Can I just turn them around? Is the backside sharp? If so, we should get new ones as well to have them in stock :)

Please don't try anything yourself, they need to be screwed back on in a peculiar way - but I think we have spares in the office, can take a look next Wednesday :-)
