Plugins don't appear to be working on Windows.

I installed Comic Tagger on Windows 11 using Pip, and installed the MangaDex and Metron Talkers to the plugins directory, but the settings for aren't coming up in the software, and when I do searches, those talkers aren't checked in the search results - just ComicVine, which going from the logs looks like it's the only thing being checked.

Do plugins not work if I've installed Comic Tagger with Pip?

Metron is currently not supported #783.
Plugins work when they are pip installed. That's actually the way they are created. The plugin folder in %appdata% is me jerry-rigging it to work with the pre-built exe.

The log should tell you what happens. One of the first things in the log is a list of all packages installed in the environment. If you don't see the plugin package there it won't load (when pip installed). If there's a failure it should also tell you what caused it to fail to load. You can also use --list-plugins to make sure the plugin is identified.

Also the plugins are only in alpha/beta builds and are not compatible with all versions

Okay - I didn't have the beta version installed. It's installed now, and I've got the plugins in the right places, but they're not showing up in the software. Manga-Dex is identified with --list-plugins though.

The manga_dex plugin isn't compatible with beta 7 or later

Thank you for letting me know. Is there a metadata source that's currently working with Comictagger to handle information for manga that can pull from, if not MangaDex, than maybe AniList or MAL?

Unless you need one of the features/fixes from the newer beta you can still use beta 6. Otherwise I know manga baka is the primary one that Mizaki was last working on. Though it may also only be compatible with beta 6

I am currently working on getting "works" aka "issues" in the comic world, into MangaBaka and will depreciate all other manga talkers. MangaDex got gutted by another DCMA round and so isn't a good source anyway.

Truth is, until MB has "works" there isn't any "good/real" source of volume/chapter level data.
