Major Update: Project Group Support, Configurable Settings, Better UX

Hi everyone,
a major update has just landed for Open in Visual Studio Code (Delphi plugin).

This release focuses on making the Delphi to VS Code workflow more robust, configurable, and easier to diagnose when something goes wrong.

What is new

• Project Group-aware workflow: the plugin can now generate and open a .code-workspace for the whole project group.
• Configurable launch command and keyboard shortcut from Delphi:
  • Tools > Options > Third Party > Edit in VS Code
• Smarter VS Code window reuse: it now targets the window that matches the current workspace.
• Non-destructive merge behavior for:
  • .vscode/settings.json
  • .vscode/extensions.json
  • .code-workspace
• Automatic files.exclude defaults for common Delphi build, output, and history artifacts.
• Automatic files.autoGuessEncoding in generated workspace and folder settings.
• Child form detection and warning before switching to VS Code.
• Detailed and copyable launch error dialog with command, exit code, stdout, and stderr.

  Persistent settings saved in %APPDATA%/EditInVSCode/settings.json
• FrmSettingsFrame.pas and FrmSettingsFrame.dfm
  Integration in Delphi Tools > Options
• FrmVSCodeLaunchError.pas and FrmVSCodeLaunchError.dfm
  Launch diagnostics dialog

Fixes

• Fixed command line quoting when the VS Code executable path contains spaces.
• Improved error messages when no Delphi source editor is active.
• Stabilized menu registration by removing an async startup race condition.
