Home Screen Carousel display issue

when pressing Right/next on subject carousel, if there is only one subject to be fetched, it is fetched, but not displayed, as the carousel usually moves along by 5 subjects at once.

additionally, after fetched subject is not displayed, one leftwards click does not change the displayed subjects, only a second one does. this indicates that perhaps a new set of subjects to display is generated, but it contains the old subjects, rather than the new subject

Still displays the odd behavior with moving back, not sure if there's undisplayed subjects as haven't compared to a complete list.
