[Error] Provisionning workers failed

I get a few instances of this error, but not quite sure what it means. Any info would be useful.

It means the worker could not be instantiated. Could be a network issue if the error's not systematic? Maybe you could check your browser's console and see if you have additional error messages?

The report is from Sentry. There are no other relevant logs.

P.s. This is from a Chrome extension, so the files are embedded in the shipped code + fetched locally. In other words, it cannot be a network error? Since the worker JS/WASM file(s) should always be reachable.

I really don't know how to help you. Would you be able to provide a minimum repro?

Some scenarios where worker provisioning could fail:

• network (or storage?) error (can't load the JS/WASM resources)
• your worker service's constructor has parameters, but parameters were incorrectly de/serialized
• the worker service's constructor threw an error
• your worker implements ServiceInstaller and the install method threw an exception (note that install runs in the worker context)
• your worker comes with a hook and the hook method failed (note that the hook runs in the main thread context)

Debugging this can prove difficult. The code running in browser threads is not attached to any debugger. Also, you'll be debugging the JS or WASM version of your Dart code, which can be clumsy. Try to compile with fewer optimizations while debugging, and try to add print calls at key moments in your worker's lifecycle and check the browser's console to find out what went wrong. You could also try to attach a logger to your worker (myWorker.channelLogger = myDebugLogger();) and see what messages pop up in the console (cf. examples in test\02_logging_test.dart).
