[Feature request] Input some basic extended latin characters on the device

It would be very nice, if I could enter an ä on the device.

Proposal: Pressing alt-a could open a selection menu (as with sym) in which I could choose my character.

One could alternatively implement the T9-Keyboard logic: Pressing the key "a" twice (in a short period) would give you an ä (or cycle through all options). As found in the Saitama firmware for the T-Deck.
