Have to unflag some gmail messages multiple times

I have noticed this in the past, even before using mu4easy, but I was wondering if you had any idea what is going on here. I am using the standard flags:flagged bookmark and occasionally I have to unflag messages multiple times if I want the UI to update and the actual flag to clear.

If I unflag messages once and just let them sit, they will clear out after mbsync runs eventually, but the simple act of unflagging the messages does not always have the intended behavior of removing the actual flag flag. I am wondering if this is connected to the additional presence of the \Starred tag, which only seems to attach itself to messages I have flagged in mu4e, and not those sync'd from Gmail's "Starred" mails. Have you experienced this in the past?

Not an expert, but the IMAP spec doesn't have a "starred" tag, only "flagged". Some email providers add their own tags and deviate from the specification, like Gmail having "starred" messages. I think mu4e maps starred with flagged. It can lead to inconsistent behavior from time to time. I can't say I had the specific issue you're describing.
