AZE0 Leaf with Nissan Connect

My AZE0 2017 Leaf has the same head unit with a single SD I've seen in several videos showing the opencarwings conversion but I have the Nissan Connect UI and not carwings. Will this work for me or are they mutually exclusive?

2016+ models are currently supported only in the navigation unit, so Information Channels, sending navigation routes, etc.

Support for remote AC, charging and battery status commands with TCU is still in progress.

Please also note that on 2016+ vehicles tcu needs to be fitted with a sim slot by soldering one to the PCB. It is missing one from factory. It is not hard, definitely doable if you know how to use a soldering iron. I will write a detailed guide later on.

Is there a roadmap for this? Now that all cars up to 2018 have had the servers shutdown on them I'm sure there will be a lot of owners interested in getting their cars back online for remote AC, Charging and battery status.

Do you have a reference part number so I know what to order?
Do you know if it would be possible to swap a 4G Gen 2 unit into a car that shipped with a 3G Gen unit?

I'm in the same boat, and had been looking into soldering a SIM socket on before finding this thread. Great to know others are along the same lines!

I've not managed to work out which way round to put the socket and if it needs a breakout board to match pins, and whether I need to remove the square chip near the pads - is that an onboard SIM? The numbers on it don't match anything I've searched for.

Grateful for any help - pretty handy with a soldering iron and I've done SMD before.

There's a lot of discussion and info on the sim slot and soldering.

But TLDR the black chip is onboard sim and needs to be desoldered. And for the sim slot, there's a part number in that issue I linked previously.

Not sure how I missed that thread, probably because my VIN says AZE0 and I hadn't made the connection that I have an AZE1 TCU. I'll get involved over there...
