I'd like to work on this issue under GSSoC'26.

After reviewing the current point calculation system, I think the scoring is heavily weighted toward a few actions (especially Hackathon Win and Follow Community), while regular engagement contributes very little. This can make progression feel inconsistent and discourage continuous participation.

Proposed Point Rebalancing

• Daily Login: +1 → +5
• 7-Day Streak: +20 → +50
• Gain Follower: +10 → +15
• Project Star: +50 → +40
• Follow Community: +500 → +25
• Event Participation: +500 → +100
• Earn Badge: +20 → +75
• Hackathon Win: +5000 → +1000

Additional Point Sources

1. Complete learning pathway milestone (+50)
2. Course completion (+100)
3. Maintain a 30-day streak (+250)
4. Community answer accepted (+40)
5. Resource contribution (+50)
6. Open-source contribution (+150)
7. Mentorship participation (+100)
8. Profile completion (+25)
9. Weekly activity goal achieved (+75)
10. Referral of an active user (+200)

Implementation Plan

• Audit the existing point calculation logic.
• Centralize point values into a configurable mapping.
• Rebalance rewards to encourage long-term engagement.
• Add support for additional earning events.
• Ensure leaderboard progression remains fair and scalable.
• Add validation and testing for all point calculation scenarios.

• Course completion
• Open-source contributions
• Community participation
• Mentorship sessions
• Accepted community answers
• Profile completion
• Active referrals

Implementation plan:

• Audit the current scoring logic.
• Move all point values into a centralized configuration.
• Introduce validation and test coverage.
• Rebalance leaderboard progression.
• Add support for future scoring events without code duplication.

• 7-Day Streak → +20 bonus points
• Follow Community → +50 points (one-time)
• Gain Follower → +10 points per follower
• Earn Badge → Dynamic points based on badge rarity
• Project Star → +50 points per star
• Event Participation → +100 points
• Hackathon Win → +1000 points (based on rank)

1. Profile Completion → +25
2. First Project Upload → +50
3. Repository Contribution → +20
4. Pull Request Merged → +50
5. Issue Resolution → +30
6. Community Post Creation → +10
7. Helpful Comment Received → +5
8. Consecutive Weekly Activity → +100
9. Open Source Contribution → +75
10. Mentor Recognition / Featured Contribution → +200

Implementation Plan

• Audit the existing point calculation flow.
