How do payouts work?

Its not described in the docs. But how does it work? Do I need to send the money manually? And how can user get the money if they don't add bank details? Also do I need to keep track of how much money I need to payout or does this somehow work automatically? bc lets asay a user racks up 1k of commisons i forget that this 1k is "pending" and then i need to pay out 1k from one day to another.

And also? is it possible for users to convert their balance into cupon code? So they get like free pro?

Hi @gltched-usr , current version of Numok focuses on conversion tracking, while providing basic support for payments. This will evolve as we get more feedback on how people use Numok, like you are doing now. Feel free to add more details so we can add it to future versions.

How it works right now: Logging in as admin, you can go to the Conversions page. In there you can export as CSV or work directly in that page by filtering per partner.

You will see each Commission, and you can flag them as paid in that same page.

Partners (affiliates) currently enter their payment email (usually using Paypal), as that's the most used payment method our users currently use. Banking information could be easily added by modifying Numok code. Feel free to send a Pull request if you do and we will review it.

I might give this one a try.

My idea is to avoid using PayPal for payouts and instead switch to Stripe Connect.

I’m planning two new payout options (implemented as two separate PRs):

1. Payout to a Stripe Customer
   Users can link their customer ID by providing their email and a billing invoice ID (to correctly identify the customer).
   This would allow payouts to be applied as customer credit. For example: if a user pays out €30 and they have an upcoming invoice or subscription for €50, they would only need to pay the remaining €20.

2. Payout to a Linked Bank Account via Stripe Connect
   Users can link a bank account through Stripe Connect and receive payouts directly to that account.

I started working on it, I plan to add two payout methods:

1. Payout to stripe customer account (balance that can be used on next purchase)
2. Payouts via Tremendous

I decided against using Stripe Connect for now since it's more complex to set up and introduces additional compliance and operational responsibilities (e.g. KYC). Tremendous, on the other hand, enables us to distribute payouts like gift cards, PayPal payments, and bank transfers through their API without managing the payout infrastructure ourselves.

Are you guys fine with using a third-party service like Tremendous for payouts? It's the simplest way to add payouts without requiring a huge setup from users.

Yessir I like the idea of using tremendous for payouts.
The setup then just needs an API key, correct?

@gltched-usr Yes. You just need to set your Tremendous API key in settings, and set a Tremendous campaign ID on each program that should use Tremendous payouts.

I think adding Wise (former Transferwise) would be also a good addition. Batch email payments, users receive it directly to their Wise account or if can create an account to receive their payment. The flow would be Stripe -> Wise -> Affiliates Wise account. Although Wise has low fees (lower than Stripe) it's something to consider. Wise also more safer for holding funds rather than Stripe and their tendency to hold your money as hostage.

@company8 I think Wise support is a bit out of scope for my PR, since it's a much larger change compared to Stripe customer balance or Tremendous. Those are mostly straightforward API integrations, while Wise would likely require additional structural work (handling bank details, validation, payout safety/failure handling, etc.).

Because of that, it probably makes more sense to implement Wise in a separate PR.

That said, I'd personally recommend waiting until my current payout/auto-payout PR is merged first. It introduces some structural changes and refactoring around payouts, so implementing Wise now might lead to conflicts or require adjustments afterwards if anything changes during review/merge.

@TheDanniCraft Oh yeah absolutely agree on the possible conflict and to be made as a separate PR. About the Wise integration, no need for storing bank details. Send payments using their email only, minimal change.
