Consider fzf-like fuzzy matching for the filter

Awesome plugin. I like the flow a lot.
Would you consider extending the filter logic with fzf-like syntax so that e.g. inverted matches of the form !do-not-include are possible?
That would make narrowing down the results a lot more effective.

Thanks for the suggestion @yeldiRium. I didn’t add full fzf-style matching, but I did ship a narrower pass in v0.1.7 that improves local filtering quite a bit.

Wayfinder’s local / filter now supports:

user for a normal term
user test for AND-style matching
!test to exclude matches
"user service" for quoted phrase matching

So the inverted match part you asked for is now supported, without trying to reimplement the full fzf query language.

I’m leaving this issue open for now for the broader “fzf-like filter semantics” discussion, since there’s still room to decide whether Wayfinder should go beyond negation + phrases or stay intentionally simpler.

that is awesome! thank you very much.
If fzf like query syntax were a goal, i think projects like telescope-fzf-native could be an example on how to use fzf instead of re-implementing it.

But for the moment I am very happy with the addition of negative filters :)

Appreciate that, and thanks again for the original suggestion and confirming it's working. The narrower pass felt like the right place to start.

And yes, if Wayfinder ever goes further on query semantics, I’d rather either keep the syntax intentionally small or lean on a proven fzf-style approach than slowly grow the filter language without clear limits. For now I’m going to leave it at negation + phrases and see how far that gets in real use.
