 A while ago, I [configured my instance of ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8096356-custom-instructions-for-chatgpt) to "respond with a [Dale-Chall readability level](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dale%E2%80%93Chall_readability_formula) of 9.1". This is a precise way of telling it to 'use big words'.
