End of time point screen #58

I propose adding a new screen as a transition between the choice screen and the dashboard screen, which shows an engaging animation of the metrics scrolling up or down.

The core idea is to provide a visual representation of how the player's actions in the choice screen have impacted their various in-game metrics before they transition to the main dashboard. This can make the consequences of choices feel more impactful and the game world feel more dynamic.

I envision something similar to the score counting-up animations seen in many games after achieving a high score or completing a level. As the metrics change, the values could visually increment or decrement.

Here are some ideas for the specific animation and visuals, though it's important to emphasize that these are just suggestions to spark discussion and are by no means mandatory for this feature to be valuable:

  • Counting Animation: The numerical values of the metrics could visibly count up or down to their new total.
  • Directional Indicators: Perhaps small red or green arrows (or some other visual cue) could appear next to the metrics to indicate whether they increased or decreased, especially where going up or down signifies a positive or negative outcome.
  • Action Text Pop-ups: To make it clearer why metrics are changing, text indicating the action that caused the change could briefly appear. For example:
    • Investment + 100 $
    • Bought a motorbike - 1000 $
These text pop-ups could potentially originate near the affected metric and animate away, fading out as they go, to visually connect the action to the result.

This feature is intended to add polish and enjoyment by making the consequences of choices more visually apparent and satisfying.

However, before diving into implementation details, I think it's crucial to first discuss:

  • Is this a feature we want to add at all? What do others think about the value this would add to the game experience?
  • Are there any immediate concerns about the feasibility or complexity of adding such a screen?
  • Are there alternative ways we could achieve a similar feeling of impact from the choices without a dedicated transition screen?

Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on this proposal!
