He frequently stands alongside the Avengers in the defense of the people of Midgard (Earth), often against the schemes of his adopted brother Loki. He formerly dwelt in a recreation of Asgard in Oklahoma, using the mortal form of Donald Blake to provide a bridge between his people and the mortals surrounding them. However, Loki's subtle trickery and manipulations of Balder, combined with her time-twisting of Asgard's past and that of Bor and Odin's has enabled her to banish Thor from Asgard, stripping him of his titles, throne and legal power, and move his people to Doctor Doom's Latveria, having planned this ever since her rebirth. Thor returned to Asgard, just in time to aid them in a battle against Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers, X-Men, and H.A.M.M.E.R. forces, killing Sentry after he destroyed Asgard. Feeling lonely, Thor has resurrected his brother Loki and father Odin and they continue to battle-on for the survival of Asgard."

Then the Beast, separated from the others in the crash, discovers the armor and flying mechanical steed of a late Knight of Wundagore and, thus outfitted, he suddenly attacks, distracting Ch'thon and allowing the Avengers to resume the battle. All at once, Quicksilver realizes that Wanda's spirit now resides in the tiny marionette carved by Django Maximoff. Grasping the doll, the heroes pit their wills against the demon's, and Ch'thon's and Wanda's essences trade places. Pietro then flings the puppet into a chasm and the recovered Scarlet Witch causes the mountain to erupt, burying it forever. Sadly, Maximoff's heart gives out in the excitement, and he is laid to rest in the nearby forest. Modred, now virtually mindless, is taken in by Bova, and the weary Avengers depart for home. "

Things are still going back to normal as reserve Avengers called up to deal with Arsenal are taking their leave. Falcon goes active again and gets chewed out by Hawkeye, who's still bitter about being stripped from the team. Captain America contacts Gyrich to let him know the Avengers are getting back to normal, and Gyrich seems pleased until Wanda asks for her leave of absence to be extended! Gyrich throws a hissy fit and promises them he'll be in New York soon to straighten this out. Hawkeye returns to his apartment to find rejection letters galore. Then he spots a security guard job being offered. He sneaks into the place and waits in the manager's office, and is hired on the spot. His first night on the job an intruder breaks in and he goes to investigate. Its Deathbird! They battle, and after a grueling combat Hawkeye eventually outwits her and wraps her up in a titanium mesh net. Furious at being outwitted, Deathbird promises revenge, so Hawkeye gives her a big kiss to remember him by and walks off as she sputters.Things aren't going so well for the Avengers. Iron Man argues to Gyrich that they cannot force people to be Avengers, and Gyrich says fine, that's it, this is the end of the Avengers"

This has brought them to Brooklyn where they find She-Hulk waiting for Doc Green with an army of SHIELD soldiers, the Invisible Woman, as well as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Vision of the Avengers. They have come to stop Doc Green from depowering the She-Hulk as he has done with all the other gamma mutates on Earth. However, Doc Green tells them that he only wishes to talk to his cousin. She-Hulk agrees to talk, but Captain America and the others are not willing to leave the Hulk to his own devices. Doc Green responds by giving them to the count of ten before things get violent, however before a fight can start, She-Hulk steps in and reiterates that she will talk with her cousin. To smooth things over, Doc Green offers to leave the syringe of his gamma cure outside. It is snatched out of his hand by the Invisible Woman as soon as it is in sight. With the threat to Jen's powers out of the way, the two Hulks go into a nearby building to talk. The first thing she asks him is where Lyra is. Doc Green tells her that it is complicated and when he tells her what happened she reacts angrily."
