Clean up as many deprecations as possible

With @pdougall1's stellar upgrade to 1.13.x, there are a few deprecations. Let's clean em up.

We can probably start around here-ish and work down.

emberjs/ember.js#14001 is an example. Notice in that issue there is a TODO: section with checkmarks for each related issue . On the issues page you can see the progress of the task list in the issue summary:
