x735 v2.0/v2.1 on Raspberry Pi OS bookworm no longer work

Am migrating a pi 3B+ that was on buster to bookworm

Used Raspberry Pi OS desktop 64-bit image to install fresh OS and use x730.sh

• the /sys/class/gpio/export interface no longer works on bookworm.
• and as others have found, the rc.local method is also unavailable.

So am unable to do the software or safe shutdowns with my x735 using this repo

It works perfectly fine for me on bookworm 64 bit.

For whatever reason this script and the fork mentioned above stopped working. It also consumes about 30-40% CPU.

Some systems use more basic implementations of the used functions (sleep, date, ...) needed for timing.
It seems that's the case for you. So a failing sleep will result in unnecessary heavy polling. That's why you're experience such high CPU usage.

My script ( x730-script@brunothg) depends on GNU coreutils.
A busybox environment for example will fail.
But i added some fallbacks and hope, that more systems are supported now.

In addition i am working on a pythonic remake that's hopefully more reliable and uses less resources.
But it's not ready yet.
