[bug]: crashes on linux when adding a new project from directory after fresh install

Bug Description

started emdash, created a project from a directory. it showed the ubuntu finder, wouldn't load directories and I had to force quit.

Steps to Reproduce

1. create project
2. directories don't show, spinning wheel, force quit

Actual vs Expected Behavior

project gets added

Operating System

ubuntu 24.04
