FME

Description

The main objective of the proposed use case is to assess a potential fire risk index (PFRI) in all EU countries. In order to generate the data model, we followed the previously published methodology "Mapa de riesgo potencial de incendios forestales de Castilla - La Mancha (Forest fire potential risk map of Castilla-La Mancha)” (Miguel Angel Copete Carreño, 2010). The methodology proposed by Copete et al proposes to consider two sources of data: 1) statistical risk variables and 2) environment hazards variables. Statistical risk variables are the variables that allow the incorporation of the probability of the phenomenon into the study. Specifically, the methodology proposes to consider statistical variables in reference to frequency of occurrence, severity, and causality of the phenomenon. We have not considered statistical variables in the study. Environmental hazard variables refer to the physical conditions of the environment in which the fire could occur fuel hazard, physiographic conditions hazard and climate adversity. To calculate PFRI, we have implemented the methodology proposed by Copete and other authors using a data transformation tool (ETL). Specifically, we used FME software. The following figure shows the workflow implemented in the FME tool.
