Highlighting self-hosted Fediverse instances?

I was thinking that it might be a good idea if we highlight accounts on their own Fediverse instances as it would be pretty clear that it is an official account.

And if we do, should we do it like as if they were "verified" and how we used to display those accounts on Twitter before or is there some better way to do it?

I'm curious if we shouldn't promote the rel="me" type verification instead? I imagine that plenty of agencies will share instances with other agencies, if not it might be a burden for us to validate the instances as verified.

Maybe an idea is to also make a guide to the Fediverse for public agencies, documenting these best practices?

Do you mean that we should be promoting agencies to use the rel=me on their websites linking to their account so that they get a nice "verified style" link on their Fediverse profile? If so, I think that is a generally good idea for society but I think that will be difficult for us to pick up on (unless someone is writing a bot to check for that and add that data to Wikidata similarly to how verified badges on X was),

And I see your point on sharing instances. https://social.overheid.nl hosts a lot of different agencies, which I think all could be considered having a verified status, but that would also be difficult to discover on Wikidata.
