To understand searching on Grantmakers.io requires an understanding of the limitations of the underlying IRS dataset. This can cause confusion amongst visitors, especially first time visitors.

For example, grant writing consultants in Oregon would expect to find the Oregon Community Foundation in results. However, OCF files a 990, not a 990-PF. Thus, they are not found in results.
