Using ArchiveItems on \Archive folder

When attempting to use ArchiveItems on the \Archive folder, I get the error message
Exception calling "ArchiveItems" with "2" argument(s): "Items in the Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Junk Email, or non-IPM
tree folder can't be archived."
I'm guessing this is a by-design feature of EWS? Is there a way around it, other than moving the items from \Archive to another folder, then calling ArchiveItems on that other folder? My Google-fu isn't bringing up very much about ArchiveItems.

The only thing I can think of is just do the Move yourself using MoveItems because you going outside of whats supported in EWS. You might need to be careful of the retention policies in the Archive Mailbox based on the folder your moving the items to
