Best would be if both work together. So many open source projects fail because they are one man armys.

I agree, but the projects have diverted quite a bit and eachone offers featuresthe other doesn't. The main problem here is that the original owner is unreachable and nobody has permissions on the original repository.

I guess you'll have to find out which one works best for you.
