Mod seems to simply not work at all: Fails to prevent item placement. Lock icon does not show up. Localization also broken.

Just installed DimensionGuard on a fresh 1.7.10 singleplayer client.

Configured my black list for:

Start a new world, give myself a piece of orange wool in creative. No lock icon. Can place the block with no problem.

Swapped to survival, tried to place the block, was still able to.

Built a nether portal, went through, received message with broken localization:

db.enabled.description: Orange Wool

Went back to overworld, received the "disabled" message, with broken localization.

db.disabled.description: Orange Wool

Still no lock icon, still able to place the block.

Using the following mod versions, on a brand new clean install, with no other mods:

Forge 10.13.4.1492
CodeChickenCore 1.0.6.43
DimensionGuard 1.2.2

Is this a known issue?

Please can you upload the console log when you start up the game through initialisation - don't need it beyond the start menu

There has to be more... forge logs even with no mods installed tend to run to a couple of hundred lines, I need the whole thing (on Pastebin or equivalent if possible)

I pasted the forge "latest.log', which looks to be limited log messages of INFO or higher.

fml-client-latest.log looks to contain everything, including debug and trace logs - however, it looks like it contains ONLY client-side logging and no server-side output.

Ok, as I thought, it's not working because the asm bytecode handlers aren't injecting properly - which is strange. I'll have to look into this more closely

Also, with the broken lang files are you sure it was

because if it's the former then I have no explanation of how a string constant got corrupted like that, and Highly recommend you try re-downloading the file from Curse(Forge) just in case it got corrupted or something

Oh, sorry about that, I must've made a typo. It actually says "dg." in-game. If you look at the server logs, you can see the chat messages do have the expected prefix.

I made this instance specifically to test this issue and everything is clean and freshly pulled from curse via the curse voice launcher.

Try Item Blacklist instead, works flawlessly for me!
Make sure to read the config instructions to have it working correctly (per world/globally).

Did you read the config section I linked? You can not just move over the config of one mod and expect it to work with a different one...
