To ignore the 'performer' tag to determine if something is an album

Hi,

Screenbox takes into consideration the 'performer' tag of an album to determine if an audio or a number of audios make an album. There are scenarios where the same album (for example, a soundtrack) may have different tracks by different performers, and yet it should be considered just one album.

Would it be possible to restrict what an album is based on the tag 'artist' or 'albumartist' instead of 'performer'.

We are adding it correctly. However, the ArtistButton column and the Contributing artists row is showing the wrong tag.

I'm not sure I understand the issue showed in your clip.

My problem is that my album is displayed as four different albums because the 'performer' tag is taken as a reference. When I tag my music, I type the same information on every audio track of every album for the 'artist' tag (and also for the 'albumartist' tag, which is just a duplicate). If a particular track is performed by somebody different from the album artist, I add a 'performer' tag, but only for informative purposes.

Well, the AlbumArtist tag shouldn't be identical for all tracks in a compilation album with different artists. The standard and most widely accepted solution is to use "Various Artists" for the AlbumArtist tag. 1 2
There's a dedicated IsCompilation to flag compilation albums, but this isn't currently supported.

We don't use the Performer tag since it is neither a standard field nor widely supported by most media players. The Artist tag is designed for this purpose, though currently we doesn't fully support multiple artists per track.

I don't know if 'performer' is a standard tag or not (it's provided by mp3Tag, the programme I use for tagging purposes), but Screenbox is definitely taken this tag into account to split one album into four.

No, we rely on AlbumArtist (plus album name and year) to group songs into albums. As for the Performer tag, Mp3tag documentation doesn't provide any detail about it.

Edit: Looks like PERFORMER is a standard Vorbis tag. Both MusicBee and Picard also utilize this tag.
