Great news — OfficeCLI already ships with a built-in MCP server (since v1.0.27)! It exposes all document operations as tools over the Model Context Protocol (JSON-RPC 2.0, protocol version 2024-11-05).

Quick Setup

One-step install (binary + skills + MCP):

officecli install

Or register MCP only for a specific AI client:

officecli mcp claude

# Cursor
officecli mcp cursor

# VS Code / Copilot
officecli mcp vscode

# LM Studio
officecli mcp lmstudio

Check registration status:

How It Works

The MCP server exposes a single unified officecli tool with a command parameter for routing. Supported commands:

Once registered, your AI agent can call OfficeCLI tools directly. Here are some examples of what the AI agent would send:

Create a new Word document:
