So that looks like the port is in use by another app, Is the power maybe still assigned in UTM to the VM?

No I don't hink so - after testing the setup works with UTM VM / Windows / CPS, I shut all of that down and simply open Chrome.... but no matter what I do I am unable to connect. I have also tested the other way - first Chrome, then UTM etc.

so it sends a psearch which is how it confirms the radio in there.

1. radio needs to be on, and booted. (I find turning it on then starting a read will fail, best to turn on press a button or two on the radio and wait for the screen to light up with the VFOs

2. radio has been rebooted. sometimes the official CPS can leave the radio in a weird state, power cycling the radio seems to resolve this.

yes radio was already on and connected. But just to be sure, what I will do a little later today and report is the following:

• a full shutdown / restart of my Mac
• connect radio and turn it on
• open chrome and try the app
  Any other specific suggestions?

Did a full shutdown restart, plugged the powered radio in, started Chrome... I get the same result - connection fails although the port comes back as 'paired'

out of curiosity I also downloaded and installed Opera on my Mac. Exact same issues as Chrome. Although I have checked that the browser should be able to access serial ports, I must be missing something....

webserial can be glitchy, but it is used by a lot of webflashers for stuff like esphome. So I was hopeful. Only getting a few (2 out of what looks like a few hundred working connections). It maybe a timing thing, where it times out... but the log shows it sending the hello (psearch) to the radio but no reply.

Will leave this open to collect feedback from others and keep digging.. Can't reproduce so can't really solve.

understood... what is odd is that on the same machine edge under windows in vm works!

Yeah, that leads me to believe maybe a buffer with that cable? Do you know what usb to serial chip it uses? (the more information I get the more it will help as I get more bug reports)

I tried it on linux, Mac OS (Apple Silicon, and Intel), Windows 11 without issue. (Outside of a vm)

in windows device manager I see it as a Prolific PL2303GS
The other issue is perhaps that I am running v 46 of the fimrware on the radio as opposed to 48?

Can you try again? I made a lot of improvements to the reading/writing code that may help with some of the timeout issues.

Hi - thanks! I tried it on Chrome and Opera... unfortunately the same problem - unable to connect to the radio via the cable....

Will track down a Prolific PL2303GS cable to try and see if I can reproduce it. Thanks for trying again.

Have yet to get my hands on one. Did try an FTDI cable and could not reproduce. But will still focus on trying a PL2303 cable to see if those react any differently.
