when i run ipfs-update versions, I got an error: "ERROR: failed to query versions: cat: could not resolve name"

The GFW blocks DNS resolutions for ipfs.io. You'll need to either use a VPN or hardcode the IPFS path. For now, ipfs-update --distpath=/ipfs/QmNUJHKXfGmor8wvAVWZQdXVQRkdDL9VofG4ytssSqLzjP should work. However, you'll need to change the --distpath= part every time a new version is released.
