Thanks for pointing this out! I have not recently tested an install on Mac, only Linux. I’ll update if I figure out a fix.

I also encountered the same problem with conda in macOS. I created a pixi configuration for the project that allows for installing and running the tool on my machine. I will share my code in a PR so that other users can find it.

Since the pixi configuration introduces a different/redundant configuration for the project with respect to what you have in setup.cfg, it's up to you to decide if merging the PR (and ideally removing setup.cfg) or closing it and instead porting the changes into the currently used project configuration system.

Anyway, great tool, the conversion works great 😊
