I've been working on getting a flow for me to work better when it comes to the disk images.

I don't have an Ultimate64, but I do have a U2+ (The OG), and at least one 128 and 64 hardware that I swap the U2+ between when I'm in that mood. So my code needs to support the 128 aspect, and for right now, READYCode discovers who it's talking to (128 or 64) and will switch to 64 mode to load the required disk image (Not just PRG).

I left manually curated disk images alone, directed the generated files to a different directory by default as to not overwrite anything. The manifest file is basically *._64 and *._81, and the generated files are recreated when a save happens. There's also guardrails built in with VICE.

This looks interesting. To make sure I understand what you're doing... it appears what you've created is that if you create a new "_64" or "_81" manifest file, then upon saving that file, it automatically creates a new disk image based on the instructions within the manifest file. Along with this, you've added some context menus to automatically mount, etc. those images. So, essentially, you're automating the creation of the disk image through a script vs. using the existing functionality of dragging/dropping files into a disk image file. Is this correct?

Not just "that" _64/_81 file, but any save to any file triggers the disk image creation, but yes, that's basically it.

My day job is figuring out how to automate stuff. The less I have to do and remember, the better. With this methodology, all the disk images files are rebuilt from scratch, and depending on what I need in that moment, and what hardware I happen to have hooked up to the network or on my PC, I can easily launch the required app from scratch.

The manifest file can create those really old-school directory listings showing things like BBS info, random comments, some 'pictures', etc. That was just icing to support, but it can also be a hint to content that I may need to add later (Like sprite data). The part I really needed was building the disk images every save, that way I can ship them to the target with the most recent code and assets.
