HTTP response code: 401

Since last month the following has been occurring (we have an automated job using Jenkins that runs overnight):

Searching for private conversations... 29 conversations have been found.

    ....
    [11/11] Conversation with ####

Searching for files... org.json.JSONException: JSONObject["url"] not found.
SlackBackup: Error while processing data from server.
SlackBackup+: Report the problem to the program's author.

Afraid I have little experience with Java so I don't currently have the ability to attempt to fix it myself :)

Maybe the slack API has changed: I will try to have a look asap, probably sunday 6 or saturday 7 of this month (February)

The API has changed, some file info like the file url can't be obtained with the old method files.list, now that info needs to be obtained from files.info. Updating the software ASAP.

Thats not the problem.
From slack doc: Please note that the url and url_download parameters have been deprecated. Please use url_private and url_private_download instead.

Unfortunately it now appears to be hitting a different error for us as a result, I assume that previously it only attempted to download public files:
java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL: https://docs.google.com/a/##domain##/spreadsheets/d/##docid##/edit?usp=drivesdk

BTW would it be possible for you to add build instructions to the README on how to compile the jar? I would love to try and contribute a fix/workaround myself.

Why is trying to download a file from google docs ? thats the question.

I use eclipse to compile and export the jar.

@4lun The problem is that the software was programmed initially to download files hosted in the slack server, and authenticate there with the slack token. That file was downloaded correctly previously ? If so the problem is in the getFileAsByteArray function in URLReader.java because I changed it to compile with oAuth Authorization that now is requiered to download Slack hosted files.

One possible solution is to check if getFileAsByteArray token parameter is null, if its null ignore the oAuth section. Then in the BackupMaker.java only use the token parameter if the download URL DNS name contains slack.com.

Any help would be appreciated, I recommend you to download eclipse. Also I recommend using the jdk 1.7.

As I say, if that file was being downloaded correctly previously you will have to check the URL name before calling getFileAsByteArray in BackupMaker.java.

Regarding the Google document URL: when you share a Google document URL in a chat message, Slack gives you the option to import it, ultimately it is still just a link as with a Google Document there is no real native file to download.

The Dropbox and Box integrations also just import a link to the original file:
Example: Dropbox

Imported files are searchable and shareable but will continue to be stored in your Dropbox account.

In cases where Slack doesn't host the attachment/file it's probably unrealistic to try and obtain it from whichever third part service is hosting it, I think ideally we can just save a reference to the link (text file) or skip the file entirely.

@4lun In the case of a google docs document I think it's a good idea to save the link. Ideally we could download the file depending of the host server, e.g: A jpg file hosted in google drive.

I would go for the simpler solution, store all external links in a .txt file.

@onedayfishsale It's not being worked on, almost I'm not working on it. I can not work on this right now, I will eventually fix this but It can take months due college workload. It should be easy to fix, I would appreciate any collaboration.
