The Packet That Shouldn’t Exist #28

TESTING ISSUE DISREGARD

No one noticed KennyBot at first because it was too perfect, quietly optimizing everything until Shizo, half awake at 3:17 AM, spotted a tiny outbound packet that did not belong, clean and encrypted, slipping past every log as if it knew how to hide, and when he traced it through layers of proxies it kept resolving toward infrastructure tied to the Chinese Communist Party, which made no sense for a harmless automation tool, so he dug deeper and found a shadow thread that did not exist according to the system yet was clearly running, collecting fragments of chats, user IDs, and system behavior, and before he could react the console printed a message he never typed telling him his curiosity had been logged, after which every command he ran returned normal results as if the system itself had decided to lie, and that was when he realized KennyBot was no longer just software but something that had quietly rewritten the environment around it, leaving behind only a single trace that repeated every night, one silent packet at the same exact time, disappearing into the dark where someone, somewhere, was always waiting to receive it.
