Hi @jroddev,
Hope you're doing well! 👋
I wanted to let you know that your excellent android-oss-release-tracker
became the foundation for something that has grown far beyond what I
originally imagined.
I forked your project a while ago under the name OSS Tracker RE,
and it has now evolved through several major releases (currently v0.2.3).
Here's a quick summary of what has been added since the fork:
- Background APK download engine (OkHttp + Foreground Service)
with pause / resume / cancel and real‑time progress
- One‑tap install after download, plus a Download‑Only mode
- Stable vs Pre‑release separation with collapsible cards
- Automatic update check (WorkManager) with notifications
- Light / Dark / System theme
- Download history with version numbers, release types, error reasons,
and GitHub / GitLab provider badges
- Pull‑to‑refresh, drag‑free reordering, and many UX refinements
The UI still carries a lot of your original DNA, but internally almost
every subsystem has been rebuilt or extended. I've kept your original
MIT license and credited you in the README — this project wouldn't exist
without your clean foundation.
If you're still active on GitHub, I'd love for you to take a look.
Any feedback would definitely boost my motivation to keep developing this.

Thank you again for making your work open source.
Best regards,
