Footnotes

Dear José,

In my markdown I use two different ways of writing footnotes. The ^[ref] type and the inline type: [^here is my footnote]. Both are supported by pandoc. The second way has my preference as it feels much more natural in the writing workflow, and since as an historian I write an awful lot of footnotes, this is an improvement wich would be much appreciated.

Note: so far I was not able to find an editor that was perfect. I am using VSCodium with some extensions now which suits me well, but I would certainly love to find a perfect editor.

This one is easy, I'll add it to the pipeline, it would render only in markdown mode. I didn't understand you about the format, could you explain more? And if you can send me pictures or text blocks as examples .

### Different types of footnotes

Though the implementation of footnotes in Markdown is somewhat of an odity, there are two ways supported by Pandoc, which I believe is one of the most important engine's used for conversion between different fileformats and therefore should be somewhat of a gold standard.[^anynumber] The first type of footnote was right at the end of the previous sentence. An easier way, with the same result, are inline footnotes such as the one at the end of this sentence.^[I can type my entire footnote text inline, and it will render in the footnotes section.] Much more confortable when writing and even easier to read when working in Markdown edit mode.
