S3 doesn't work if in non-default data center

I'm using the Northern California DC for my site and I get this error:

[WARNING] fog: followed redirect to [sitename-removed].s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com, connecting to the matching region will be more performant
rake aborted!
hostname does not match the server certificate (OpenSSL::SSL::SSLError)

What version of nanoc are you using? I've stopped maintaining this gem since it's functionality was merged into nanoc as of version 3.3. Are you using the built in fog deployer? If that has a bug you might want to open up a ticket on the official nanoc repo.
