Hi, and thanks for all the work on Nemo.
I have a small quality-of-life idea, and I wanted to check whether it's something you'd even consider before anyone puts time into it.
When you right click and open Create New Document, the submenu lists the files from ~/Templates but drops the last extension from the label. So a template named New Text Document.txt shows up as New Text Document. With one or two templates that's fine. Once you keep several types next to each other (odt, docx, xlsx, txt, and so on), it gets harder to tell at a glance which entry makes which kind of file.
The workaround I've been using is to double the extension on the template itself, so New Text Document.txt.txt. That makes the menu show New Text Document.txt, which is what I'm after. The problem is that the new file then keeps the doubled name, so I end up renaming it each time.
So it's a small conflict. The menu strips one extension, but the created file keeps the template's full name, and there's no setting to change either side.
Would you be open to a way to keep the extension visible there? I was thinking of something optional, so it doesn't change anything for people who like the current look. Maybe a preference toggle, or just showing the full template filename. I'm genuinely not sure what would fit best, and I don't want to assume the stripping wasn't intentional to begin with. If there's a good reason it works this way, or if this isn't likely to land, that's totally fair and useful to know as well.
No urgency on my end, it's purely a comfort thing. Happy to help test if it ends up being worth doing. Thanks!
