Not getting ESP32-S3-Touch-LCD-7B to work

Hello, I am using this board: https://www.waveshare.com/esp32-s3-lcd-7b.htm?sku=31726

first off, I really struggle finding out what Display it is actually using, but I can also not get the display working with a generic display set up. somehow whatever I do, it just crashes. No idea how to set this up or what my misstake is on the firmware build.

I hope my description is not too un-precise but maybe anyone has tried setting this board up before?

They don't make the information easy to find, do they?

Click the wiki tab on your link and scroll right to the bottom. They list the datasheets for the chips.

Have you got a REPL prompt or is the firmware crashing before that? Or are you further down the path?

You really need to provide more information on what you have and haven't got working, if anyone is going to be able to help you much.

I don't have this board, but have been through the pain of setting up something new. Nothing works for days, then suddenly everything is working... hopefully!

Thank you for your answer, stephen, sorry for not putting too much informations in my post as i thought maybe someone else might have had the problem before. About the informations, you're right, they could just go "ESP32-S3 with 7" inch display XYZ" instead...

I will post more informations now.

apart from a few other tests i tried this code:

the setup that i used to flash the system was the following:

...then finally read the code example right at the bottom.

I'm replying from my phone, but I can't see where you are creating your display object. It's only a guess (as I'm not that experienced), but perhaps your code is attempting to write to the frame buffer before it has been created (alongside the display).
