In your plans: Remove reliance on Firebase and make it compatible with any realtime backend

How would this work and how realistic is it? Firebase works in a pretty unique way. It would be great for this to work with other services like Pusher but does it really make sense?

It's a long term goal, but the idea is to treat the resource objects as self-updating models that can safely assume they will be kept up-to-date by whatever realtime backend the developer happens to be using. I also want to make the API compatible with non-realtime backends like Rails or Parse.
