Compositor - how to theme/control window shadow?

When compositor is enabled, with a marco window, I have a shadow:

Is there a way to control it?

This is controlled by the GTK theme

I tried only the following CSS code from my theme:

* { box-shadow:none; }
:selected { background-color:gray; }

Windows and panels are transparent, but I still have shadow:

I am task-saturated at the moment. A string search on "shadow" in your gtk theme css files should find the code setting this. Note that code lower in a gtk.css file or file loaded by that overrides code earlier in the file

Yes, but I'm using only the provided CSS code in the theme and for the screenshot.

Try putting that code in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css and see if it works for removing shadows.

generally in a GTK3 theme, lower in a css file overrides higher in the file, and more specific overrides less specific. Presumable file position is overridden by specificity as that's the rational approach but I do not know if that's the case.

~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css is applied with priority USER and is supposed to override everything else. Not sure what happens if you have a general case there and a specific case in the theme though

I think the probem you are getting is that * is the least specific case and is thus being overridden by the
window and such style classes as .popup which controls things like menus.

The test code below (modified from my GTK theme) should remove shadows for test purposes:

decoration,  window.unified, window.popup, window {
	box-shadow: none;
}

Note that any borderless GTK theme will now not have any way to resize the window, so use a theme with
borders on decorated windows if you want to remove shadows

No, I found some things in source code, shadow looks like hard coded.
