No support for new filters and configuration in API Platform 4.2

In API Platform 4.2 filters are to be configered by QueryParameter. There are also
new filters including an OR filter.

This may make Filter Logic in this bundle obsolete, so i asked:
If you think there is still a need for the Filter Logic from this bundle with API Platform 4.2 please explain in a reaction below.

I think what is missing in 4.2 are the nesting possibilities for filters which this bundle does provide, right? NOT expressions are also not covered as far as I can see (yet).

OK, i will look into the new filters. Maybe NOT and nesting of logic can be added easily using the new OR filter as an example?

No, OR filter is very limited. But FreeTextQueryFilter is interesting. Building a NOT filter class should be quite straightforward. And an OrComparisions filter could combine the technique of FreeTextQueryFilter with a piece from FilterLogic to combine subparameters of DateFilter en RangeFilter through OR. Combining the filters of several QueryParameters will be harder, but i do have an idea for a filter class that allows one to configure named groups that are nestable and are combined through OR or AND. Of course this will be more static then FilterLogic but also give more control to the api developer.

Filters configured using the new QueryParameter based filter configuration are invisible to FilterLogic and therefore FilterLogic does not work with them. But I could make a CollectionExtension
(implementing \ApiPlatform\Doctrine\Orm\Extension\QueryCollectionExtensionInterface)
that hard-codes support for 'and', 'or' and 'not' parameters, making it work according to the parameter based filter configuration.

However, that would come down to rebuilding most of FilterLogic. And i have no interest in investing in Api Platform based code like filter-bundle. The same for new filters that do so in a more static way. So filter-bundle will not support the QueryParameter based filter configuration that is new in Api Platform 4.2 and the new filters that depend on it. Consequently filter-bundle will not support Api Platform >= 5.0.

I intend to keep maintaining filter-bundle until then, but it will only work with the old ApiFilter configurations. With the current release process that will probably be until september 2026.
