Ableton Live doesn't recognize Push 3 midi ports. I really don't know what happens, or how to troubleshoot further.

I tried to connect the device to my other PC which runs the same ableton live version, but is Windows 10, and MIDI ports are showing properly. Also ports have been working on this Windows 11 machine last week (24H2). The windows update is the only thing which changed as far as I can tell.

Did you plug in the Ableton Push and power it on before starting up Ableton Live?

I haven't seen any incompatibilities with the Push 3 (I have one here for testing and it is working with our in-box drivers) I haven't tried it with Ableton drivers, but from speaking with them, there should not be any issue.

Is that the only MIDI device you have connected? Any m-audio, AKAI, Denon, RANE, or other devices connected?

I googled around and found out about korg midi drive uninstall utility. (It would been very handy if something like that were built-in into Windows itself).

It shows no devices in midi0...midi9, but AMD audio devices (built in sound card) in midi 10 and mid 11, and then ableton push gets midi 12.

Can this be an issue, that push gets a high midi channel, so ableton live shows no devices? Is there any way to reorder the devices manually, if that is causing push not showing up in live settings.

I tried to remove the drivers, but for some reason AMD audio always pops at midi 10, as if some auto-discovery just adds them back faster then I can uninstall their drivers. Maybe this is built-in AMD audio issue, not ableton.

Another update. I installed midi tools, and run midifixreg. After that the midi settings app works, and shows devices. I tried with oxi one, and it is recognized by ableton, push isn't. The MIDI settings app tells that push has 0 ports.

Another update in me trying to fix this.

If I enable newer-style names, then Ableton Live will show Push midi ports (success), but then Push itself won't recognise that Live is open (failure). If I use old-style names, then push as controller works, but midi ports don't show up.

I suspect there's some old left over configuration, but I have no clue how to make everything look fresh. Reinstalling Windows is not an option.

EDIT: I found some facebook posts which say the same. If new-style names, then device works. I get audio and midi interface functionality - but no controller. However, if I stick to old names, then I don't get MIDI functionality. Maybe this will be fixed by Ableton, but I would leave this issue open until there is a fix. And the old names don't work, so that is broken - whether it's Microsoft or Ableton issue, I cannot know.

Please don't use that KORG driver tool. It messes up the registry, and the Push would never show up on that list.

Looking at that second set of screens, you've messed up your registry entries.

This is what is required for Windows MIDI Services to function.

wdmaud2.drv is not a "corrupted" entry and is supposed to be midi1. wdmaud.drv should be midi. There's no such thing as midi0 -- it's an invalid entry created by those tools.

Not sure if you saw my comment about joining our discord server before you tried all that. It would have saved you quite a bit of work.

I'm also looking into this myself to see what's up. I've only used the Push 3 as a MIDI controller in the past, not in "Control Live" mode.

@Psychlist1972 as I said, I fixed my KORG mistakes by midifixreg, and I got MIDI interface working when I set new MIDI 1.0 naming, but the push as live controller doesn't work then. And vice versa. AFAIU that setting choice should not really matter, but I guess it does as probably some name is hardcoded (or configuration is saved) somewhere.
