open terminal from global python activates wrong environment

I have the following project structure

  "python-envs.pythonProjects": [
    {
      "path": "ada",
      "envManager": "ms-python.python:system",
      "packageManager": "ms-python.python:pip"
    }
  ],

and in the "python projects" view, I see the project "ada" correlated with /opt/homebrew/bin/python3.10

but when I click to open the terminal the type which python it returns /Users/eleanorboyd/.pyenv/shims/python. I am unsure if this is something on my machine or the extension's problem
